    Default 3 Provinces 16 December weekend

    We are planning to go do the Three Provinces trail on the weekend of the 16th of December.

    We will arrive on the 15th and leave on Sunday the 18th of December.

    The camping facilities do not have power but they do have flush toilets and hot water.

    Planning on doing the Three Provinces trail on the Friday and then one of the smaller or shorter trails on the Saturday.

    Three Provinces is about 14km outside Volksrust.

    Trail details;

    Three provinces: (32km long) 5 to 6 hours drive, rated a 3 to 4 and there is a 5 obstacle as well but you can bypass it.

    Bobbejaankrans Trail: It is about 5-6km and takes +/- 2 hours to complete. It has a grading of about 2-3 out of 5 and maybe one spot of 4/5

    Tierkloof Trail: (The whole trail contains technical obstacles). It is about 8-9km and takes +/- 2.5 hours to complete. It has a grading of about 2-4 out of 5 and maybe one spot of 5/5

    Trail costs;

    R180.00 for the 3 Provinces trail
    R80.00 for one or both of the shorter, Bobbejaankrans en Tierkloof trail.

    Cost for accommodation;

    Camping is R90.00 for 2 people then R20.00 per person extra
    Just waiting for confirmation of other accommodation close to the camping area.

    Log cabins are 2km from the camping area but they are fully booked already.

    The Waterval Guest Flat (R160.00 PP) is about 5 km from the camping ground in another direction.The "Woonstel" is attached to the farmhouse (3 Provinces Guest Unit). It accommodate 7-9 persons, got two bedrooms which share a kitchen and a bathroom. Open plan, Self catering. Fully equipped.

    Alternative accommodation is Oupa se Huis 8 km from the farm and Sanbonani 9 km from the farm, both on the tar road on the way to Volksrust (town).

    I have attached all relevant information.

    List so far:
    1. Flagster + Wends & Ninja Monkeys - Camping
    2. 90 Inches + Christel - Camping
    3. StephenB + TanyaK - ??
    4. rayshep1207 + Barbamamma - Camping

    At the moment I can only post at night. Have to pay for my 4x4ing sometime.

    We will be camping for the first time without power provided by the "resort".

    Will see if my rig works. It will be an early test for next year's river trip.

    I have been told that the camping area is very nice and there is a lot to do for the kids.

    I have added links to some threads on 3 provinces to the first post.

    Say Hi to Herman and Ronell.

    Fantastic trails, with some really challenging hopsticles - Careful at Hellshoogte!
    And don't worry, the camping spots are not bad at all.
