    Exclamation ECU problem

    Hi guys
I am very new to this forum, but I need some advice please. My 1997 GC Ltd 4l petrol has died on me!!! Got in one morning to go to the shop and the vehicle would not start. I turn the ignition everything comes on except the fuel and voltage gauge seems to be unresponsive. The engine also turns, but will not start. The battery is new, I checked the fuses and all contacts. Auto Elec guys say it is my ECU that has gone.... New one is R8000!! Any sugestions?

Could also be bad connectons on the back of the instrument cluster, give it a firm push to see if it makes any difference. (Don't break the glaas though) If it does make a difference all you need to do is clean the connectors with switch cleaner or at worst resolder connections on the pc board. Hope this helps.

The guys at Golden Rule Motors in Stikland are not afraid to open ECU's and resolder. Did a great job sorting out my previous Merc E280's fuel pump control unit.

They are Merc boys, but it's part of the family, so they work on Jeeps as well.
