    Default Mdumbi Backpackers

Has anybody been to Mdumbi Backpackers, just north of Coffee Bay on the Wild Coast?

We want to go camping there, but would like more info.

I would also like to know if anyone has camped here. What is the campsite like?

Wow, that was a while ago when I posted that!

In the mean time we went there just to check it out.

    I won't touch it!
    Typical not-so-good backpackers.

These are the images NOT on their web site:

(the first pic is a typical 'camp site' !)

Thanks for the reply and pics!

Anywhere else on wild coast that you would recommend? Camping I mean.

    Thanks

There were a few discussions on the subject. One was in the last week.

Bowse through the 'Eastern Cape' Section and you should find it, or do a forum search on "Wild Coast" and "camping".

If you don't find it, tell us here.

The Wild Coast has plenty to offer, if the folks running "camp sites" as in the pics above would spend a few bucks and maybe more of us 4x4 types would utilize the place.
What about Double Mouth camp site close to Morgans Bay?
White Clay near Hole in the Wall? (has awesome pub for a few slucks)

    cheers

There is a place called Anchorage that is situated between the Umtata and Mdumbi rivers. We stayed there quite a while ago but was nice and clean. If you drive down to either river it is some of the most spectacular river mouths that I have seen in my life!!!

Cannot say whether they are still open etc.

    Still open.
It's part of the Anchorage Hotel, just north of the Mthatha River mouth.
