Kgalagadi is scorching hot! Take tons of cold stuff.

Around Mata very good for leopard, cheetah etc and Nossob for lion. Ideally you should split your stay between the two camps. Bottled water if I recall is very expensive so take your own. Not all the shops take credit cards so make sure you have cash.

Jannie Kriel the chief field guide organises great walks and game drives (morning and evening) through the desert and one can drive trails as well. Best book for these in advance. Well worth doing.

You will have a fantastic trip. Remember to post pics.

Mistral, good thing you posted...I forgot about the "no garage card" at Nossob and Mata Mata.

Draw enough cash at Tweerivieren. The shop has a Std bank ATM.

We are spending Christmas as Rooiputs, cannot wait8)

Offroad nut, WRT to the roads, last year was our first time and we started with tyres at 1,8 then down to 1,5 and finally down to 1,3 and then it was comfortable. This year we thought the roads looked excellent, maybe just knew what to expect or got used to it. Only went down to 1,5 and was very comfortable except for a few kilometers north of Polentswa where it was really bad.

We filled up 4 or 5 times at Nossob in April and used garage card every time. They do have a machine, so it might be that the system is down occasionally. Enough cash for a full tank might however not be a bad idea. Draw cash in Upington though, TR has run out of both cash and fuel before.

One last tip for especially MM, be very careful where you pitch your tent, check for depressions made by previous campers and avoid them at all costs. You will find yourself in ankle deep water very quickly if one of the famous Kalahari thunderstorms strike.
