Default Want to buy Navara V6 or TD????

    Hi,
I am looking at buying the new Navara, I need some advice in terms of
Buying Diesel or Petrol. Does any body know the feul consumption on the 4.0 L?
and are there anything that is giving problems on the Diesel?

    Thanks

    Default Navara?

    Hi there Zilla

I've been driving the Navara 2.5dci 4x2 since Dec 2005 and can't fault it in terms of fuel consumption 10.5L/100km Urban and 9.3L/100km open road fully laden. Very good ride comfort although suspension a bit soft under load(uprated on the 4x4 I think)

A friend of mine drives the petrol and it is THIRSTY. 18L/100KM great power though.

Also comes with rubbish tyres Wrangler HP 255/65 R17 (R2100ea) good for
45 000km I'm looking for other replacements at the moment.

Allround very happy with the vehicle. Cheers Dylan

    Thanks Dylan,

That 4.0L's feul consumption is a bit rough I think. All my cars to date has been 6 cylinders, feul consumption between 10L/100km and 14L/100km (except for the Ford Courier), I was always sceptical about the TD's, maybe it is time to move over.

    Thanks.

    Hi Fordzilla,

I recently purchased a V6 Pathfinder. Phenominal power, k @ k consumption. If you are anywhere near heavy footed, you can easily rack up 20 l/100km. Drive it like you stole it and 30 l/100km is easy............

Fantastic ride quality and a good build quality.

    Cheers

I read somewhere that the Navara 4x2 and 4x4 2.5tdi engines are very different in specs and the 4x4 diesel gives a lot more power than the first launched 4x2.

Caompared to the V6 I wonder how the 2.5tdi 4x4 holds its own.

Also maby I little O/T. Us SA ppl are so afraid of owning anything that gives less than 10km/lt. I mean.... if one can afford a 4.0lt Navara, why worry about R7/ lt petrol. Tit for Tat.

Its because of guys like you with your V6's that they want to impose more taxes on our vehicles

I "uprated" my 2.5 diesel to the 4L V6, except for the fuel consumption you can't compare the two. It's actually now a pleasure to drive

If I slow down to the speed of the diesel (town driving) my fuel consumption is almost 7.5km/l

I have always been a "petrolhead" but is very impressed with the new diesels. First take them for a spin before you decide. Go petrol if you have company petrol, and depending the kms you drive. 2000kms+ a month, diesel.

    Nissan Navara 4x4. Engine: 4-litre V6. Power: 198 kW @ 5600 r/min. Torque: 385 Nm @ 4000 r/min. Transmission: 5-speed automatic. Top speed: 176 km/h ...

I dont get the top speed though. Why only 175km/h.

Does it cut out at that speed or is that all it can get?

it is just an suv safety thing, larger vehicles with softer suspension, body roll etc. they become unstable at higher speeds. you can try going faster in4th gear, as most speed limiters kick in on 5th gear.

    a old tread indeed.

but just a update on consumption....

    navara 4.0 v6 4x4 automatic.
cats removed for trip down to st lucia, hoping consumption would be better
    180k on odo.

    from meyerton to Pongola, 7,15km/l.
light load, no canopy only fishing gear for x2

Pongola to st lucia highway speeds , cape vidal/ mission rocks and st lucia normal slow town driving coming back to Petroport 60km from st lucia.
    consumption was 6,25km/l

Petro port to Ermelo another 385odd km, 6.15km/l

    still light load, no canopy.

bliksem maar die ding is dors…….gelukkig was verblyf verniet, anders was dit n duur trip gewees.

speed was about 135km/h odo, so true speed unknown....lol
new tires also fitted standard size.

Its a 4x4, why would you want to do 250kmh. Designed more for lower down power than top speed. I dont think its is limited electronically, might be wrong. Its like your Scania and Volvo long haulers, 400kw+ but doubt you would get close to 190kmph with it.

I drove with a colleague in his 4.0 Navara about 10years ago. He had it remapped and not sure what else but we reached 223km/h. This reading from the GPS
