    Talking Nali sauce from Malawi

    Good day,

We where in Malawi over Dec 2010 (see Dec2010 Trip report) and we ended up trying out the local sauces.
We found that the Nali Garlic and chili sauce is one of the best chili sauces we have ever bought.

I want to know if anybody is willing to bring me back some Nali sauce from Malawi in the near future.
    It would be much appreciated.
You can buy it at almost any store in Malawi.

    I live in Pta.

    Thanks
    Martin

    I'm addicted to Nali too!

In CT some Spars have it and the Spice Emporium on Landsdowne road....but this may not help you much in Pretoria.

    Hi Martin,

Nali is brilliant, and luckily we can get it easily in Cape Town, but if you can't source (sauce?) it, the Nando's hot sauce, Dog's Bum, etc are not too far off.

    Hi Martin,

The SPAR in Groenkloof has some of the variants at R28.

I really wish I could find some here in Gautengaleng. I am currently stocked up on the "Gaansbaai Fishing Company - L.M. Piri Piri Sauce"... available from Hyperama... also very nice (but you really have to shake the bottle... best to decant into another container.

I had an ex GF who used to work for Air Malawi. In those days we had generous donations of Nali, as well as the Malawian Tonic water. Absolutely superb, but missed now.

SWAMBO quite rightly objected to me maintaining the GF relationship for the sake of condiments.

The Nali sauce is excellent. I even smuggled it onto the plane to spice up the extremely boring meal that was served. You Malawi guys must surely also remember the green tomato chutney. I would go back to Malawi just for that! We finished bottles of the stuff on the plane passing the bottle between passengers.

Quite a few shops in Fordsburg and Oriental Plaza sell it in Joburg. I usually bring back about 10 bottles. 5 for me, 5 as gifts. Everyone loves it.

I bought 4 big bottles chilly and 4 small bottles steak Nali when i was in Malawi last year. I dont think it saw 4 months and it was all done. The only thing
with Nali is the afterburn. For me its mild but a colleague of mine was finishing a whole bottle over his steak at the restaurant and was up at 2 emptying his bowels

Look around at the non-franchised local stores, I often find Nali there.

The first time we used Nali it was quite a shock , but we're addicted.

Another good ZA sauce range is Ruy's : he knows his chilli.

Old thread, but any updates on availability anywhere in the Cape, or online anywhere. Really used to enjoy the Garlic Nali sauce.
