Default crazy dual battery system ??

    Sorry reply in English.

24V has significant advantages. Essentially for the same amount of power consumed it draws half the current. So smaller cables, longer cable runs easier, for the same power load smaller voltdrops. Thats why cars went from 6V to 12V and trucks use 24V and new cars may be comming out with 60V systems soon.

But managing and charging a dual 12/24V system is complicated.

Edit - doesnt one of the cruizers have a 12/24V system?

Yes. The 80VX had a 24V starter but everything else was 12V. Most of the times the switching circuit gave a problem and then the 24V starters were replaced with 12V and the switching electrickery could be trashed.

On the 100VX they still have 2 batteries, but they have a 12V starter now.

I just wish someone could tell me why the hell they made the big Freightliner trucks 12v !
The biggest lorries on the road - wif a 12v system . bah .
Ever tried to jump start one of those ?
Thats why the LED tail lights is so popular on the interlinks -
The trailer can be hooked to a 12 or 24v truck , and with the 12v trucks ,
you get a moewiese voltage drop on 25 + meter .

Yes the 12V on the American trucks is a ballache.

Next time you want to jumpstart one, put the jumpers on the starter. Not the battery. (We do this daily.)
