Everyone says go to Hollard but you ain't gonna get that price.

Hi guys,
I'm buying a 2005 Pajero 3.8 V6 LWB this week with around 170000km on the clock. The dealer has had it checked by the AA and serviced and put new tyres on. The car is in great condition. However I would still like some peace-of-mind with a mechanical warranty. The dealer has offered me a 1 year warranty for R164pm (for 5 years - on my finance). I'm not sure if I want to load my repayment for the next 5 years for only 1 year worth of cover.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good mechanical warranty which can be paid in monthly installments?
Thanks!

The Big Boys are Hollard, SA Warranties and Motorite.
Get a quote from each and compare what they cover and what they don't and then pic one?

I've been very happy with SA Warranties, although only had a single claim - but it was no questions asked.
As mentioned Hollard Motor Extender is brilliant!!!
Even the oke (Sean Riley from the Gearbox company) was very very impressed that they covered my last breakdown!

What cover does each of these guys give you? How many years/km's?

Penthouse,
i was also surprised at their pricing when i got quotes for the disco and merc, which was R580 and R700 respectively. It seems that it depends on the year and mileage of the vehicle, the older the car and the higher the mileage, the higher the monthly repayment, possibly due to the fact that the risk will be higher to them - older and higher mileage car - bigger possibility of it requiring repairs

Many forum members here are driving aging vehicles. Wouldn't be surprising if many of these lads are as clumsy around repairs as I am. Given a gap ($$$), I'll be investigating this type of cover. Dirk, being relatively new here - maybe I'm not qualified to say so, but me thinks this subject could use a sticky (a'la Tuff Stuff). With any luck, members learning from each other's postings, might drive increased competition amongst suppliers of this cover? At least we could all learn from it and have a central place to post policies, quotes and related info.

Not yet enough merit in stickying it.
SA Warrenties is also a good bet and only difference is that you must pay full premium up front for 24 months cover. I have this cover on my Disco asit was the cheapest option with maximum cover available.
I agree that Hollard is also excellent cover and will allow you the monthly contribution option. They also contribute an amount towards your services (very clever way of making sure you are servicing the vehicle regularly).
Read many posting to stay away from Motorite (even dealer told me same) as they really look for reasons not to pay. Ask me I had personal experience in them only paying for the first part that breaks and leaving me stranded with huge bill .....eeek!

I understand that part but on this C32 AMG it was the number 1 piston that disintegrated and I got paid R183k from a total bill of R356k!!!Originally Posted by bvandyk
