According to the 2.5 TD's manual it is good for towing up to 1000kg, so I stick to less than that

The V6 is good for 1600kg

I agree though, towing heavy loads does strain the gearbox, and towing in 5th gear for extended periods will kill the gearbox - remember 5th is not a working gear, but overdrive...

The V6 loves towing and does it easily ...
    Pic to follow soon ...

Hope the load was correctly balanced, that machine way @ the back looks rather heavy ...

Almost the same size trailer we towed 5.5M with sides etc. doubleaxle-braked for 2600Km and with the Brake not disengaging so lekker when reversing ... Mostly 4th gear on non-flat or less than level surfaces and 5Th on Long straight level or downhills ... never strained in 5th gear ...always geared back for the slightest pulling-power required. It even did surprisingly well on fuel ...

Must say I've had no gearbox issues only the clutch that I just replaced 2 weekends ago on 201000km and I tow caravan quite often (in 5th gear a lot) and when the caravan is fully loaded it's probable around 1300kg - I'm very impressed with my baki & will not get rid of him soon.

    Hi,

First 3 pics are of my Ranger after doing the section of dirt road between Sodwana and the Jozini turn off. It had been raining for 3 days .

The last two are on Sodwana beach.

Default Playing in the Sandpit at Malongane , Mozambique

Just outside Ponto Malongane (on the the way to Ponto Da Ouro) there is a big sandpit, has some steep climbs, areas of thick sand etc.

Didn't have a buddy with so only played a little.

Pictures dont do justice to the height of the climbs, also swambo didn't get pics of the bottom runs
