Default Gauteng West VI - July Function: Potjiekos Cookout

The only Saturday both the Flagster's & I have free in July is the 30th.

    The Theme:
    Potjiekos Cookout

    The plan:
We form two or three teams (or more if more food is required) of three.
Each three-person team prepares a potjie.
Each potjie to be different (i.e. Lamb, Chicken, Oxtail).
    The teams prepare the food.
    We eat.
We (a committee) pick the best potjie & declare that team the winners.

    Date: Saturday 30 July
    Venue: My place
Time: 14:00 (the chef will need to arrive @ 12:00)
    Cost: R20.00pp to cover ingredients.

I have two spare rooms for those too 'tired' to drive home after...

    Sound good? If so,
let me know who's keen & who wants to be in a cooking team...
I suggest Fanatic head up one team...

    Cheers,

Default Gauteng West July Event - Potjie Cookout

    Manny, Manny, Manny.....

Really dear, when I said the next function was at your place I was not being literal. However, now that you have officially opened that can of worms I say let's go big. So, mirrored balls; open bar; dancing elephants; live band the works. LMAO. So much for coffee!

We will as always be there and can't wait to see everyone again. For those of us not cooking, we are more than willing to assist in other ways - please just give us a shout and the necessary instructions. You know how well us chicklets take orders (err - NOT). Seriously though, happy to help. Maybe we can bring plastic disposable bowls, plastic eating utensils etc etc.

    Take care

    Hi Manny

SWAMBO and I are from the noord!! But I like how the westerners do things, safety first! However I would like to join, depending on work commitments. I will have a chat to SWAMBO and then let you know.

Can the potjie kos offer be extended to the north to include us?

    Phixed!

tgwinduna - pity, but understandable under the circumstances

DuncanG - will you have recovered from your Lumbago, Consumption & Running Gumption by then pops?

Craig, I think one of these days we'll just be calling our gatherings something like:
'Gauteng XIV - February 2011: Clarens Weekend' & drop the 'West'.
Of course you guys are welcome. Anyone is welcome.

Puff - My house is no smoking - I don't own any Ashtrays. You are welcome to smoke outside,
but that may be a problem as you'll be chained to the kitchen.
Well have to lengthen it by a few links so you can stick your head out the back door...

Okay, which team do I join Manny?

I'm sure somewhere in the TOS it says that no members may have a potjiekos competition without ME. :-(

Dankie dankie, I have to give all of the credit to SWAMBO though. She is the pap master! Excellent chef by the way she also is.

Oh ye of little faith. If your house is non-smoking because you have no ashtrays, don't stress, I'll bring my own. I may even spoil you and buy you some to keep for future visits.

On behalf of all the SWAMBOs re your kitchen chain gang idea - we'll wish you well in your attempts to make it so. Ha ha, only yanking YOUR chain.
