    Default Real names online

I really wish people would start using their real name online. I meet so many people and get e-mails from guys where I deal with their real names, and then I talk to them online and don't even know it!

I've been suing my real name online for more than two years on various forums and even published my cell phone number and e-mail address in my signature (albeit for commercial reasons) and have never had any issue with it!

So how about we start a drive to use our rel names?

Fully support that!!! Couple of times I have met members, Jan, Piet, Paul en Hans, then afterwards I do not have a clue who is who in the zoo as online there are no such people, just some funny nicknames.

Yip....it does get confusing when meeting forum members. Names are better. Is it possible to put our names here where it says 'member'?

I completely agree. It has been a bit of a handful trying to organise 40 forum-names, 40 email addresses, and 40 real-names for the forum trip to Zambia.

I belong to a tiny little woodworkers forum in the UK, which has a really nice feature. Below your avatar is a "real name" option. If it were possible to add this as a feature here, it would save everyone having to re-register with their real name.

I like the kroozer club for that!!

Many moons ago the whole forum thing was a virtual world. No one ever expected to meet anyone. Well now 7 year later we have gtg etc etc. I think your name at least should be under your nic name!

Dirk what about making it compulsory on all new entries?

I joined the croozer club recently - my first application was refused as I put my name as I have it here - they wanted a space between my name and my surname - no problems with that -sometimes I wonder why some people have such weird nick names but then again it is quite amusing

I can't! If I touch my signature I lose the "poxy feral Brit architect" quote, (signature sizes have been reduced) and I rather want to keep that.

What! If I can, anyone can..........You'll just have to wait til we get to Zambia to check my pronunciation, but I reckon it's easy. As for the spelling........if it's in your signature, we don't have an excuse for getting it wrong.
