    Thanks Ben.

One of the big unknowns is what Lufupa are doing next year. At the moment they have no camping......indeed, they have no access whatsoever, as they have sold all their space and time to one outfit. However, they might just be open again next year, and that would really help with the rotation of people around the central/north of the Kafue.

One or two people (McBrides and Mushingashi) are building extra facilities specifically for us, and one or two other camps are in new ownership, with big plans, but will need checking closer to the event to see if they are ready to cope.

As I said, the chances of that latest schedule being exactly what we actually do are fairly slim. The one thing that is set in stone is the big gathering together at Mukambi early in the trip, with a huge braai in the offing.

    Default Busanga option...........one place left.

Folks, there is one tent (for 2 people) left for the Busanga Plains option on the October trip.

Here is my original posting on the subject. Follow the links and see some great photos of the Plains.

Don't forget, if you want to grab this last place, then contact Linda at Mukambi rather than me.......but please let me know so that I can plan movements etc.

    Cheers

Just in from Linda via email.......

Wow, hot hot hot. Sightings incredible at the moment - last night at Mukambi 4 cheetah, 10 lion and a leopard plus a leopard and lion on the transfer. At Busanga it was cheetah chasing Hartebeest, honey badgers and an African Wild Cat which is nice. Probably around now because the burning was less this season.

A lion very nearly attacked one of our staff last night too. They walked into each other. Luckily he was so terrified he just kept dead still!

    Hi Guys

I know I'm only getting into this thread now, but I need assistance on travelling through Zambia. I'm planning a trip with mates in April/ May from Livingston to Kafue to Lusaka to South Luanga and into Malawi. I'm really struggling to get info on road conditions, how long it will take between destinations, camps to stay at, petrol stations, etc. Can anyone assist with where I can get this kind of info from? Thanks

    Three things you do:
    1. Start a new thread as this is OT
    2. Get yourself a gps with T4A or look at google maps
    3. Then fill the gaps by asking questions on the forum
    Easy!

    Yes, both sad & glad.

Was told by our new Operations manager & the CEO that they are extending my Contract at Oconbrick 'till next December. Very glad due to the financial boost this penshioner will have for 2012.

However sad that I will not be able to join you all in Zambia in October.

Hope that some-one who has been holding thumbs for a spot will fill my place.

Of course for a small fee

Will watch developments and will wait for the pics & all.

    Enjoy

Thanks for letting me know, and sorry you won't be able to join us. However, one person's bad news is another person's good news........I know you have just made someone on the waiting list very happy!

I'll sort this out in the morning.

    Cheers

    Hi Mike
Thanks for the invite and sorry to Bosun. I would dearly like to be included on the Busanga option. Is the tent that you mentioned earlier still available?

It is now 2012 - lots of stuff happen. May be we must ask who is in and who is out - as well as the groups. June is only more than 5 months ahead.

Hi folks, and thanks for the prompt.

Yep, I was planning to do exactly that next week. I've had 4 or 5 drop out, so numbers are getting a bit more sensible/ manageable. I am yet to hear from all the lodges with this years prices, but I'll gee them up next week too.

I haven't been checking the gmail account daily, so I have only just seen your email, Dewald. Thanks for letting me know.

There will be one or two announcements soon, too, including a huge one for the June/July trip in 2 or 3 weeks time...........look out for that!

    Cheers

This is the current list as I understand it. Could you please let me know if I have something wrong. I hope you are all saving hard, and getting your gear together. The first trip doesn't seem like it's a million miles away now!

In view of the changing numbers I will not do anything about groups for a little while. Besides, there are various camps in Zambia which haven't got this years prices ready yet as well as one or two camps which are in the process of opening and so may or may not be ready for us. Zambia is like that.....

    August 2013?

I'm not sure anyone will be staying behind that long, Alan, (13 months!) although Zambia does do that sort of thing to people. Maybe start a new thread closer to, about your proposed journey, and you never know, something might work out with someone. There are many more people travelling than you would ever imagine.
