    Default Lions in camp

We came back from Moremi, Savuti, Chobe in early June. 5 Male lions had killed a zebra RIGHT IN CAMP at Savuti. It was awesome to hear them roar all night, and devour the kill. No walking to loos though. If you go to Savuti, Paradise View is the best best site, right on the channel, which is still flowing strongly.
Hyenas at S Gate a problem, about 20 came into camp and we were only ones there. Took off with anything they could find, but not until we all went to bed.
Had to drive from Xakanaxa back to S Gate, and over Mababe Depression, as N gate closed. Very sandy once inside Chobe after gravel road.
Ihaha is a great site, 2nd lot of ablutions better than ist, cleaner.
Have a great great trip, ENJOY !!

Hey Red, wow quite something. Did you get to see those lions in camp or just hear them? Any pics? I guess we can be grateful that only one hyena came to visit us at S.Gate. I don't think we would have coped too well if a pack of 20 had come to visit with us in our ground tent. Makes we wonder if ground tents are that wise if hyenas are getting out of control. Its just a matter of time before they chance their arm. I hope that something environmentally friendly can be done to deter the hyenas from taking over the camps. RSG

Hi we just got back from Bots, we crossed all the bridges with no problem, They did not allow us to go through North bridge to Savuti and we exited at South Gate.

A Hyena bit a man just below the shoulder blade while he was sitting in his camp chair at Savuti while we were there.

Ihaha is excellent and we Elephant crossing the river right in front of our campsite

    Have a good trip

No, nothing, and no shops either, although there is a tiny little shack selling tiny amounts at North Gate (Kwai village). You need to be entirely self-catering throughout Chobe and Moremi.

Hi good luck on your trip just came back the water levels are rising Third bridge - Xakanaxa is closed just after Fourth bridge (flooded), North gate not reachable therefore u will have to come back to South gate to exit the park and then go up to Kasane. There are newly build ablutions in all the camps with solar geysers so I had a hot shower every night but no there are no electical points. Some people were running generators but that pist other people/campers off so I would not recomend a generator. I hope u have a good.

    Hallo Quintin

See my post yesterday on the water levels rising "warning" from Xomae group.Seems we are in for a bit of a wading experience......
So basically we will not be able to see Xakanaxa directly form Third Bridge and will have to do all the gamedrives around Thrid Bridge only.We are there for 4 days(in Third Bridge).Hope enough scenic roads to keep us busy for such a "long" time.....

Rayshep-Will be in Third Brige and Savute same time as you.......8,9,10,11 August in Third Brige 11 August in Kwai and 12,13,14,15 in Savute...

Please people, can we leave those generators at home , we all know they are not allowed in parks but the policing is not happening so we have to restrict ourselves - thanks .
