Default Flock of birds flying after dark

Me and my son was outside looking for the moon when he showed me a flock of birds flying overhead at about 19H45.
    Totally dark. (Rooihuiskraal, Centurion, PTA)
They were in V formation and quite a lot of them too.
Asumption is that they were going (cruising/migrating) somewhere.
Were not small birds but would describe them as medium size with long necks.
    Bit bigger than pigeons.
They appeared to be white like in colour from the ground light reflection.
Percieved height would be double tree top.

Anyone know of birds doing this sort of thing at night?

    Most birds migrate at night.

    Nothing to do with migration...

Just returning to roost... if the description is anything to go by is probably Sacred Ibises

Possible, quick scan through Sappi's Newman this is as close as a ID would get. Their size also fits.

Sharks are also white from underneath, maybe the rugby team returning home?
