    Default Total isuzu disaster!!!!

I'm a doctor from the UK who came out to work in the government hospitals of PMB last year. I bought a 2001 Isuzu KB280 DT 4x4, privately, with 96,000kms for R95,000 last year. I got the car to do a big southern Africa trip this year.

I am currently stranded in Cape Town, the car is using a tank of oil every 100kms and my trip is wrecked! The car has been in Reeds garage for two months now and they have replaced the gear box seal and the turbo and now tell me they have to take the engine out, send it to the engineers and I'm gonna be in for over R30,000 and it'll take three weeks!

I don't think I can trust them, but know no one else in CT. The only mechanic I know is in PMB. Can anyone recommend someone trustworthy in CT who could examine the rings and the cylinder head?

Sounds rather more like shot rings, maybe even top gasket or cylinder liner - those engines have wet liners AFAIK - than oil seal damage unless there's a pool of oil under the car after being parked a few minutes. I mean 5l in 100km That's 20km/l!!!
I wonder why those guys didn' start off with a compression test?
