Hi Guys,

Hope this is the right thread (or a moderator will move to right thread).

We are looking for 5 people (max 2 vehicles) to join our trip to Mana Pools & Kariba - the trip opf a lifetime.

We are not commercial operators and have booked the services of Dick & Sally Pitman of Zim4x4 fame to guide us:

We are coordinating a “Trip of a lifetime” to Mana Pools and Kariba (eastern Matusadona shoreline) from 8th August 2011 to approx 19th August 2011.

If you love the outdoors and wildlife / birds / photography then this is not to be missed.

The trip will be “Guided” from Harare by Dick and Sally Pitman.
There is probably no-one in Zimbabwe more qualified to lead such a trip as Dick is pretty much Mr Conservation Zimbabwe. He is a founder of The Zambezi Society and was a senior member of Zim Parks for many years.
Dick is also the author of several conservation / wildlife related books and a keen photographer. (A Wild Life: Adventures of an Accidental Conservationist in Africa is a great read)
Sally has also been intimately involved in conservation and wildlife in Zim for many years (as you will discover f you read the abovementioned book)

In broad brushstrokes the deal is that participants are responsible for:
· own transport (4*4 required – can be hired)
· fuel
· tents
· food
· have shared responsibilities for evening cooking duties on a roster basis.

Dick and Sally supply short range radios for communication between vehicles, are responsible for booking campsites, park fees and boats (on Kariba) and are the essential link to backup if anything goes wrong.
They also provide information packs to participants and commentary in transit and at stops.
They carry reference books for animal life, birds & flora

NB this is Wild camping (mostly unfenced camp sites in reserves or concessions with possible high populations of elephant, hyena, lion, leopard ...) and is not appropriate for young children – a good guideline is min 50kg weight

Cost approx US$660 per person - US$330 to confirm and balance due not less than 30 days from departure date. Maximum participants = 12 persons including Dick & Sally.

Please PM me if you are interested.
