    Default Fortuner aircon problem

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and have been glued to it for the past few days going through all the useful info.

My vehicle is a 2007 Fortuner 3D4-D and I have a problem when using the aircon. The water that gets created should drip out of the overflow pipe through the passenger footwell. For some reason mine is building up in the bottom of the fan housing and starts dripping onto the passenger side carpet.

I'm assuming it's a blocked overflow but the pipe seems clear, so before I start taking it a part has anyone had a similar issue?

    Welcome to the forum Nick

A friend had a classic experience in December. He took his Triton to the dealers to check something in the drive train .... The ac water kept on dripping on them, so they shoved a sparkplug into the overflow pipe ! Imagine hie surprise to see a sparkplug on his DIESEL vehicle. However, before he figured this out the whole passanger foorwel got drenched with water.

It is also possible that dust collected and now blocks the pipe.

    Welcome to the forum Nick.

I had the same problem. Dust becoming mud and then blocking the overflow pipe. Had it sorted by the stealers when I took it in for a service. Not a big issue to sort out at all.

    Hey Nick

To echo Bush Boy- I had a similar problem in my 2008 Fortuner and it turned out to be a blockage. I did the clean up job myself using water pressure from a hose. I disconnected the discharge pipe from within the cabin(from front passenger side) and then flushed it and all was good. I also found a small blockage in the main unit itself where the discharge pipe connects to the unit, which I cleared with a small screw driver.

The other unrelated problem you may experience is a loss of gas due to a leak caused by rubbing of the pipe that feeds the unit at the back of the vehicle. If you can get under your vehicle and check that the aircon feeder pipe to the rear is clear enough from the engine/gearbox.

I reckon that Dealer has a bright spark in his workshop now as your mate shoved that sparkplug up an orifice where the sun does not shine??

Thanks for the tips, I'll get my head under the dashboard as see what gives. It's a pain not being able to use the aircon when it's 36 degrees outside.
