Default Comments on a Vito / Kombi / etc please

    Hi,

We're looking to get a small bus - something like a Merc Vito, or a VW kombi.
(but we're open to looking at something else too.)

I admit no not knowing a lot about them, so I'm asking for any real life experiences anyone has with them.

Most of the feedback I've gotten w.r.t the Vito seems very positive. Everyone I've spoken to who owns one is very happy.
Same with VW - although one guy mentioned that the splines on his driveshaft gave issues and had to be replaced. (I've also heard mention of turbo issues?? )
I'm not a big VW fan, but there's no particular reason for that - just "preference", and I'm willing to change my mind if evidence tells me I should

Dur to my budget, I'm going to have to buy something out of warranty, so things I'm looking at:
    - reliability
    - maintenance - cost / frequency / parts
    - any known issues / frequent problems on them?

Any other feedback will be appreciated

    Thanks
    Jacques Joubert

Also look at the Dodge Journey, especially the prices and what you get.

    They are both great IMO.

I have looked throughly at a Vito a few weeks ago and the following I like

    • It is a Mercedes.
    • SPACE
    • Very practical finishing (Strong, easy to clean)
    • Seating position (front)
