Buff was stuck, they tried to dig it out with the grader which then got stuck and eventually hat to get a TLB in to dig out both.

Unfortunately Bartho who was one of the main contributors and kept this thread current passed away.
He always found good material to post and even though most poked fun at the person that got stuck, there was lots to learn from he postings.

How do you get stuck with a Prado with those tires and an Amarok got through with the tiny tires on it?

The photo doesn't show which route the Amarok took to get into a recovery position. But, more importantly, I learnt that the most important 4x4 accessory is the nut holding the steering wheel.
It's all down to experience and knowledge. I was once recovered by a Fortuner with almost bald tyres but the driver drove rings around me when it came to off-roading.

    Ek het 'n beter vraag.

Hoe gaan jy off road maar jy het net 'n tow strap met D-shackles vir ingeval jy dalk vassit

Hahahaha it was at the Meadows 4x4 in PE on their river section. There are 3 route going up with the easiest on the right and the most difficult on the left. Normally we go up the middle and down the right, so actually quite easy to get up there. The route on the left was new and one of the passengers piped up "let's try that one....". It's a short hill but steep and the sand is soft so I was almost out but also dug myself in right at the end. I'm sure I could've made it if I tried harder but I'm not that windgat as the prado is my daily driver and not my toy kidding

Amarok impressed me that day but he couldn't make it up that hill at all

I have more recovery gear but all I needed was a very gentle pull

    This is sad news.

His posts, which allowed us all to learn a thing or two, will be sorely missed.

Getting stuck is sometimes half the fun and you get to learn more....and a lot of those smart arsses are only smart in hindsight or because they have picked up that first experience

For me it was a learning curve moving from something with a mechanical locker to something with traction control and so I know I'm part of the reason why I got stuck but it was a learning experience and good fun

We all need to keep contributing

I agree - it's why I joined the forum. But there is a tactful way of asking a question or pointing something out that you would like to share.

Meeste recoveries is meestal net so `n trek en daar gaan jy.
