This was in Dec 2005 on our way to Kubu Island from Nata side. a guy in a Colt got stuck in the pool of water on the right hand side of the Hilux. My friend wanted to go pass to see if we can get him out from the rear, it was the closest option but got stuck in the mud in the process. Notice my Red Ford recover the Toyota after we recovered the cold. The Hilux was stuck up to the chassis. He was running ATX tyres but not good in Mud. The coopers (STs) on my Ranger Proofed to be good in Mud. See the Atx's clogged with Mud.

Oh man, talk about getting stuck on the same spot....
I went through the whole trail, got a few scratches 'cause they had not cut the trail open for a while, and at the end I tried to go over this here idy bidy little hill....., and I got stuck...... I could not believe it and ofcourse the wife cracked herself up but fortunately the owners are good friends of mine and they called in the recovery vehicle.....

    Red face

Oh yes, forgot about that one.

Well, there will be alot of stuck photos when I get back to South Africa..... . I'm looking forward to meeting Vrod and the rest of the guys in PE and for them to show me there play spots and for sure, I'll get stuck a plenty. They know all the spots to mis and the 'new guy' will find them all...... Don't worry, I'll take my camera with.

Some pics of us stuck here in Saudi.

Pic 1. Between a rock and a "soft spot". Myself stuck. Diff locks weren't working. Had to build a road to get a Prado in front of me to pull the nose out. Digging not an option. We were all wearing "plakkies" and sand burning the sh1t out of us if your foot sinks in it. Had to lie on the bonnet and attach the tow strap from above.
Pic 2. Friends car, me driving. steep drop off on left of car. steep uphill to right of car. Drove a jeep up the left side as far as it could go then joined two straps to pull the back around.
Pic 3. My previous car. One of those stupid moments.
Pic 4. Another previous car. Could not get the doors open. Had to climb through the windows.
Pic 5. Friends Pajero. This one wasn't too much of a problem. Eventually drove it out backwards.
Pic 6. These friends were new to the "getting stuck" scene and tried to snatch using a normal strap. You can see the strap flying in this pic. Went over the top of the Wrangler and landed on the bonnet. Fortunately nobody was hurt and no damage done.

will post a few more later.
    Greetings from Saudi.

A few more "stuck" pics. Nothing radical just plain stuck.

The last pic shows the temperature on one of our outings.

    Cheers from Saudi

    Default Colt rescuing a F250!!!!!!!!

I was on the way back Sunday 5 August from camping weekend when I got a call from the owner of Bundu4x4. She said someone was stuck there and wanted to know if I'll come help. She even said she'll pay me. I off course declined payment explaining to her that the excitement of helping someone was payment enough.

It took me another hour to get there. When I got there the people greeted me and asked if I knew what vehicle I had to recover. I was then told it's a F250! A F250 at Bundu!!!! I thought they were kidding, because I didn't think that big thing would go through the trail. Turns out they only drove about 100M

Anyways, so me being very new to recovering people, but an old hand at being recovered I walked to where they were stuck. At this stage the F250 looked bigger than I remembered. Might've been the narrow track.

Underbelly dug deep into the sand, and signs of various attempts to get it out. Wood, tyres, etc.

Had a look around to see what would be best. Winching wasn't an option I thought, as this vehicle weights almost double my car's weight. So I didn't even attempt that. Would it have worked?

So in the end, I just took my snatch strap, as I felt more safe using this than the tow strap I had with me. I didn't snatch though, pulled the strap stiff and just put down foot with 4L+D/L. With a little bit of spinning it came loose.

Then I had to guide them out of the trail. And as I go over this one section where I have gotten horribly stuck before I realised we're going to have another recovering today. I turned the corner and started hearing an engine revving and spinning. Quickly got out to tell him to STOP. As I got around the corner he was laying on the same spot I had gotten stuck.

So another recovering followed. When we got to the clubhouse he asked me about this mud pit there. He wanted to try it, and I showed him how to get to it, thinking we're going to have another recovery. Just before he went through, I just told him to it in 2nd gear and just "m0er it" (a.k.a. the Barto more). He went through quite easily.

At least they bought me drinks afterwards! So now I can say I have a F250 recovery vehicle Damn those things are huge.

    O yes, pictures on http://www.meistre.co.za/gallery2/v/...y+at+Bundu4x4/

Chris - those tyres on that F250 look mighty hard, did they even deflate those? At 2 bar with road tyres on top of that, I'm not amazed they got stuck....:-)
