In the pic above.... who is recovering who

Surely it would have been better pulling the chap on the crest of the dune over, rather than back down, in saying this, I dont know whats on the other side...

Gordz and I visited a friend of mine's farm this weekend. He recently made some tracks in and out of an old farm dam. These tracks are usually very easy to get up and around, but last night we had quite a heavy thunderstorm and there was a lot of mud around. I went up and down the tracks in the normal way, but when I went up one the wrong way around and there wasn't space to make my turn, I got stuck immediately. The GY MTR's stood no chance at all. Gordz decided te reverse all the way through the mud up to 3m from the Triton, eventhough we had about 70 metres of strap between us......because a cruiser with 35's and 2 lockers will not be stopped by a bit of mud.....or so he though

Here I'm stuck with Gordz just ariving on the scene.

Gordz ready to recover me and still on top of the mud...

He couldn't even pull away and after a lot wheel spin, he only went one way...DOWN!

Fortunately we still had 2 vehicles left in the group, so next up it was the KZTE hilux. We decided not to tempt fate again and got him to stop on the dry ground to snatch Gordz from there, with me still attached to the cruiser. We joined a snatch and an extension strap to keep the hilux out of the mud.

The cruiser just had to be snatched forward about 5m before it got grip again and then proceded to pull me. The 3 vehicle train moved until this point where the KZTE ran out of runway and had to be disconnected. At this point I still could not move because I ended up in the holes the cruiser dug for itself. It was just a small tug from the cruiser again and the Triton was free.

    The mud behind me.

I got myself stuck on a little river crossing. The previous time I got stuck in water, was with the Prado and I had walked the water. This time I got the guide plus 2 to walk across and vet it for me. Just bum height and it felt firm. Not so.

Took 2 winches to get me out.

Got stuck this weekend on a flat section just before a lekker climb.
The soil was damp, not muddy, loose as butter, and my Paj was not even lying on her belly.... Had to be pulled out by a Cruiser.... nogal

This was at the McCarthy playground after the Fundi challenge. Did not want to play (cause I know 5 minutes in the mud=2 hours of washing....and I still have mud under the car...) but a guy got stuck in mud with his Landy, so I went and winched him out. Winched another Landy (the new one with traction control....) when he couldn't get out of a little ditch with some mud in it... Will try and get pics of that.

    Default atlantis dunes

I got stuck in the soft sand on one of the dunes and eventualy slip of the side of the dune into a didge and nearly rolled over. we took about an hour and 1 winch and 2 4x4's to get suzy out.

nearly lost my bakkie and learned a good lesson: dont under estimate the sand!

Dont feel too bad, thats the beginning of the experience starting. Most of us toppies have been down that road . And we are still here today because of those experiences we encountered. We however tackle those dunes differently now with different approaches as we know what can happen if we just gooi.
Glad everything turned out ok. Not a nice feeling hey.

    cheers ORA
