    You never recover in reverse.
I agree that in the ideal situation one should not recover in reverse, but I had 3 other vehicles behind me in a small passage, no one in front, and a stuck vehicle which was getting more and more water inside, The passengers had to climb out the sunroof (the water was over the seats) - So reverse recovery was the only option available to us at that time.

But yes we all learned from this.

    Hi Renier,

Ek moet se Alta is 'n great vrou.

I was not referring to you being pulled backwards.

The Landy was using reverse to recover. This breaks diffs. Strips the crownwheel. Diffs are designed to take load forwards, not in reverse.

Ja, swambo het my uitgetrap omdat ek nie kon ry waar die Landy voor my deur is nie by Kallie se quarry.
Baie duidelik aan my gestel laat n Wrangler eintlik n ### 4x4 is.
Veral met n Wrangler so hoog soos myne. Het ook agtergekom 35" bande kan dryf. Glo my.

Our overly adventurous friend Leon ( forgive me Leon ) on our West Coast trip last year . First day out just playing around before the planned trip from Honeklipbaai to Groenrivier turned in to a disaster . The first hole Leon is in was just good old fashioned fun . The Cruiser winched him out and we had a good laugh although still to this day my Swambo cannot understand the purpose of driving in to a hole and getting stuck. So just to add to her confusion Leon floated the Jeep at the next turn whilst attempting this crossing . The XJ is back to health again .

Eerste keer in Landrover se geskiedenis laat n Landy n Jeep recover.

Does this only apply to landys or all the rest of us as well
