Default Kers Hout Laagte - 4x4 Trail and camp

During the past weekend, and a few ago we explored a new trail in the Eastern Cape, also in Oyster Bay, called Kers Hout Laagte.

The trail offers some exciting sand driving in two sections, camping and wooden house/hut accomodation along the coast.

Currently the trail is not sign posted or marked, and it needs a bit of work to break up a few long "boring" stretches, but there are already enough obstacles to keep you busy for a while.

Yesterday we were a small group consisting of the Land Rover Owners Club, SA 4WD Club, Algoa Toyota 4x4 Club and Adventure 4x4 Academy, and obvious 4x4Community!

Yesterday the one of the obstacles was given a name, and it will now be knows as Beyers Bult, the guilty will understand.

We will be returning later in the month to assist the owner with creating some more tracks, and hopefully also to start marking on the maps where to signpost and so on, this trail has massive potential with areas to create smaller sections for real difficult technical driving, areas suitable for jamboree's, and a section which is flat, and potentially muddy ready for gymkana style competitions.

Attached two Garmin files, Google earth image, and Google Earth placeholder file.

For bookings please contact Johan "Chops" Vermaak, on cell 082-321-1467.

Bungbroek, see that logo at the bottom of Brent's post, they're the guys who do the Mitsu training. Mail Brent or go to their website www.4x4training.co.za.

It makes my life as guide a LOT easier if someone has gone for training first than trying to help someone learn the ropes in a group of vehicles on a trail. In fact, I want to actually prevent first timers from joining because it stresses me out and makes the trip unpleasant. Sorry if I'm sounding grumpy, but I've been there, done that and I decided I'll do 4x4ing for fun, not for money and stress.

The trail is open to the public, but it's better if you go in a group and with someone that knows their way around. There's still work to be done there and some signs to be put up, but it give it a month or 2 and we will start doing guided trips to this trail.
