Default Wrangler aftermarket rims and tyres - advise needed

    Hi everyone,

This is my first post so let's hope this works.

I want to upgrade the rims and tyres on my wife's standard 2010 Wrangler 2 door. I have three options and would like some advise from people in the know as the local tyre shops in my area (krugersdorp/roodepoort) are clueless. I looked at many Wranglers in Mozambique over the holidays and there are many configs. Some look really crap others look stunning. (My wife's Jeep is still std but we are concidering the 2" lift kit from Zone Off-Road) I need to know where to shop for the options listed below and your comments will be appreciated.

    Options:

    1. Keep standard 17" rims. Powder Coat - Black. What is the widest BF or Maxxis we can fit without catching the fenders and affecting the speedo?

    2. Micky Thompson Sidebiter Rims (black). Which size tyres and rims will work best? (std or 2" lift)? Do I fit 16 or 17"?

    3. Dick Cepek Torque Rims. Which size tyres and rims will work best? (std or 2" lift)? Do I fit 16 or 17"?

Last question - Where will we get the best prices on the BF and Maxxis tyres?

    Willie

So we've decided and bought these little puppies.

305/70/17 Maxxis Bighorns on Mickey Thompson Sidebiters. We tried them out last weekend outside Buffelspoort and they surely have "bite".

Only problem is that the wheels are touching the fenders, we will sort this out this weekend after we do the suspension lift.

Thats one trick looking JK 8). I like the look you are going for with the black.

I noticed that you asked the question in the wrong section. If you put this under the Jeep section you would have had a 100 responses

All you need now is a lift or else those Bighorns are going to rub

@ XJ Junkie, Yes those are the same sidebiters. They look a bit smaller than ours though.

@ Jabu Jeep, nie seker of ek uitsien na die fitment JOB van die suspension nie, ek sien wel uit na die gebruik van die beter suspension.

We paid just over R10K for the mags and the same for the tyres. We got both mags and tyres at cost.
