There is a call for 4x4 clubs to volunteer vehicle’s and drivers of 4wd Vehicle’s to help combat the Rhino Slaughtering ,I volunteer in my personal capacity, but might be a very noble cause for a club effort .Jacaranda FM and the Stop the Rhino Poaching site is the drive ……. I will respond from a forum and aawdc perspective and I truly hope that something comes of it, unfortunately my experience so far with the "Anti poaching" establishment is that cash is king and that it was very splintered and full of politics and egos.

I had a forum member who was prepared to persoanlly spend R10K on items for the anti-poaching units and approached the guy in charge of counter poaching in one of the provincial parks boards and asked for a list, he was happy but I still don't have a list a couple of months down the line and offers of help etc at other places seemed to fall on deaf ears.

I am not quite sure how the 4x4 community can help, but assume the methodolgy will be discussed.

Just a word of caution before we all jump in our cars and go poacher hunting. If you do come accross something, these guys will shoot first and ask questions later. This is a problem that even proffesional rangers face.

However, well done all.

Fluffy, the idea is to hear what they have to say. I want some "kickback" on this.

If I am asked to patrol, anywhere in any park, and have eyes on the ground and air,I am in.

If I am to donate money, I am out.
I am issued a firearm, I am out.
If I am asked to look for poachers, I am out.

will look at what is required/requested very closely, am very aware of what you mention, have discussed this previously on the forum.
