Default Forever Resort Waterfall Safari Lodge

Is there anyone around that camped at Forever Resort Waterfall Safari Lodge before. I'd like some of your experiences as I am contemplating going there soon?

Middelburg, Mpumalanga then you take the road to Groblersdal and just before you get Loskopdam it is on your left hand side. I did not camp there but went to the restaurant a few times. Very nice. Nice and secluded but cant speak of the camping there.

    So here goes!
We spent three nights at Safari and it was great. Ablution was great, there was even toilet spray that made bubbles when you spray it. "Small things" I know, but Swambo was happy and that’s what counts. The only down side is the lack of grass, but once you are over that the rest is great.

We were also frequently visited by Impala, Nyala and a spitting cobra! And what is really awesome is since you Waterfall Safari Lodge is a Forever resort, you automatically gain free access into Loskopdam resort. So if you want to see a bit of grass and people, you can go there.

I'm sure that if more people go to Waterfall, and they see the camp is earning some income, the grass and general beautifying will follow. But the quiet and nature part was enough for us.

I know this will get me negative marks on this site, but I didn't get to do the 4x4 route since you need to be at least two vehicles and I couldn’t find a second person who was willing to drag their chassis over the level four course. But it was more about relaxing for us since the last few weeks were a bit hectic so I'm not too disappointed.

    Here's some pics:

Not a lot has changed since Benno was their last...invoice said no grass and off-road campers only
    Will give some feedback
Benno... Can you perhaps post ur pics again as I am quite interested in what we got ourselves in for
We are 2 vehicles so we will definitely try out the 4x4 track

If it's the same as the Forever Amanzi Mountain Reserve, there is an article on it in the Jan/Feb Drive Out magazine. Says it is now leased out on concession to Johan Annandale and is not open to the public after it was damaged in a fire. Location is given as 20km north of Middelburg on tar, then 17km on dirt to the gate.

    We were there today.

Did the trail and then took a swim and braai. Love it. Will go again. Clean and neat place with awesome views.

Trail was pretty tough past the waterfall. Something to keep you busy but yes, a real gem.

On their website they state "off road camping"

Not sure what they mean......off road camper and RRT only, no ground tents?

Thumbs up Definitely a level 4 trail

Me and some friends went to Waterfall Safari Lodge this past weekend.
We like to do 4x4 trails but couldn't find any info on this specific trail.
We made bookings in the 4 berth Cabins that was very nice and set out for an adventure.
Not knowing what to expect the Manager told us it is rated 3 - 5 on the 4x4 grading scale.
Leaving the reception the trail started with a level 3 and worked up the mountain with level 4 sections. At the waterfall base their is a nice picnic area with fire pit.
On the second section of the route things got very interesting with level 4 sections going up to level 5 with no escape route or turn around points. Once you are committed then its all or nothing. Lots of loose rock on an incline with a dangerous side bank. With the right line anything is possible just make sure you're 4x4 is in good bouncing order!!
It is a very nice place and challenging trail.
I would like to see a map and the trail maintained a bit by cutting grass and tree branches as they grow wild over the tracks.

Hope this info helps our fellow adventures

Yes we were there in July 2016, the route is rated in my books 4+ lots of loose rocks and steps especially after the waterfall. please note that the route is covered with brush and trees. on the top you can hardly see the route with small trees in the middle of the trail. They struggle to maintain the trail because of the difficult terrain. Make sure you have good tires as the rocks are very sharp with deep ditches and axle twisters.

    Accommodation is top notch.
