    Default Nexstar Celestron

    Hi

I have ordered a 6 inch Schmidt Cassegrain; anybody elose here have experience of the scope they wish to share? I didn't go any larger as I need it to be relatively portable as I aim to take it with on camping weekends when I am away form the light in the suburbs

Hopefully most of the camp sites will have a nice dark corner somewhere to set up the scope !

    Catch you later

I'm quite happy with it, don't use it as often as I thought I would though ... Setting it up and to align it is a bit of a bugger :-(

Hi, I'm an avid astronomer although I focus more on astrophotography now. One of the viewing scopes I do own is the 5" nexstar and I must say it is a terrific scope. The alignment takes me about 5 minutes, the sky align technology is amazing. If you think aligning the celestron is a bugger, you should try any other scope that only has the 3 star alignment method.

    Cheers

I use the sky align method. That's where you can choose any 3 bright objects in the sky including the moon and planets. Just make sure your tripod is fairly level and that you entered the correct location, date and time for your area. Also, the time zone needs to be set to 2.

Have the C5 but I struggle to get i to align. Always level it and use the GPS for location as we are seldom near a town. Would new firmware etc make a difference.

    Hi

I'm still not using it the 6SE Celestron nearly as much as I hoped I would, so am going to sell it. Offers around R12000 if anybody is interested.

    More about the telescope:

    And

    http://www.celestron.com/browse-shop...ized-telescope

It is complete with tripod, it is motorized to follow stars, unused CDs to link to your notebook etc. Bought a Pelican case (waterproof etc) for R2k to make sure it is nice and safe when you take it with on your travels!
