    Default Computer Fault Codes

Here's a great link to computer fault codes on a Jeep and how to read the codes. I tried it on mine and works like a charm! No faults displayed... phew! What a relief!

Thanks Renier, this sounds quite cool. I'm going to try it myself - will be curious to see if there are any mixture related codes stored after I've removed the cat.

Will also print out a copy of this and keep it in the car - could come in very handy when a problem raises its head when one is in the Jeep's natural habitat..!

I have the same idea, keeping a printout handy in the glove box somewhere!

    Congratulations on your 400th post!

I've done the check and it's quite cool have the dails sweep back and forth and all the lights go through their check routines. Luckily, mine also didn't come up with any error codes.

Thanks - but it's about the 6th time I get there. Not that post counts bothers me as much as some other members...

My car's battery died on me this afternoon - took the opportunity of fitting a Delphi maintenance free MS battery - quite a bit bigger than the one it replaced. In fact the one it had in surprised the guys at the battery shop - they said its way too small for a 4.0 litre engine.

Anyway, I though I'd do the check and see if the fact that the battery was removed registered any fault codes, but it didn't. I guess it has to be disconnected for a longer period.

Thanks to Pierre (Freakazoid) for the tip on Delphi being a good choice..

....mmm, it was a steep R875 - but I was told that it should easily outlast the equivalent Exide which was R575 if I remember correctly. I used to be a fan of Willard but on my previous car I had to replace two in two years.

do not worry about it. I get aswell now and then. the important thing is .... it starts and this is all to do with the transponder in your key. "its a jeep thing" or "only in a jeep"

Just seems that if you are a Jeep not, you have no choice but make a note of all these glitches..............

A certain answer springs to mind, but seeing as we have younger viewers on here from time to time, I'll not mention the two words. The first word is four letters and the second word three letters. So you do that now!

I think it's better to discuss the problems that we do have, rather than pretending there's never any problems. Now take your Toyota and do as suggested above.

It's not like there are no problems when I look at the Toyota side of the forum.

Only one solution for you Jeepster. Go buy a make of car (you know what) that does not offer you self diagnostics. That way you will never know if there are any possible glitches. Or you could always go to your nearest branch of (any make or model) and ask them why so many of the staff are dressed in blue overalls
