    Hi Rocky,

Hayes motors here in CPT sell 230/250 gearboxes new from R5000 + VAT. Unfortunately I couldn't see prices for engines.

You can also go to www.isuzuoffroad.co.za and ask the same question there. I'm sure that one of our guys there would be able to help you. Speak to Johan (280DT) as he would be the best person to tell you where to look for the engine, gbox and xcase.

    Hope it helps.

What I have heard is that the ISUZU g/box is soft. The guys use a Toyota Cressida box with an adapter plate. Killer matchup

The 250D gearbox wouldnt give problems as long as you dont go below 100km/h in 5th gear.

    Rocky,

From what I understand the guys used to tow trailers, caravans, etc. in 5th gear which unfortunately is a big no, no as the 5th gear is not designed for that purpose hence the fact that the gearboxes "packed" up. Should you drive below 100km/h you would basically have the same effect as towing in 5th ie. the 5th gear would labour under strain. Lofty can correct me here (not very technically inclined )

Oh Ok thought that much basicly you must not drive the car at low revs in a high gear ..

That would seem to be the correct conclusion

Just got a quote for a 250 D motor and G box , with only 30 day garentee from these engin importers , 26 gorillas !! jeesh , I think its better to buy a old motor and have it completely redone , then at least one knows what condition the motor is in ,,

Delta offer very good remanufactured units at very reasonable prices. Try them. With all the factory warranties.
