    Default Battery

    Hi 110Mike,
Any reason why it must be a Deltec Voyager? I have had First National 105 A/H for a year now with absolutely no problems. I purchased it from Battery Centre at R700.00. I realise it's a year later and prices have gone up but perhaps it worth a phone call.

    Regards, Johann

    Hi Mike

Try Battery Power 2000, tel 021 447 2255, speak to Richard. They are the agents for Delphi batteries, which is almost identical to the Deltec, just different branding/logos.

When I bought the battery in 2002 the cost was R700, definitely the best price at that time.

I've been using a 102 AH battery high cycle battery for the past 4 years now and never had any problems.

The Deltec is supposedly the preferred battery as per the overlanding site.
Is the First National a deep cycle?

Theo, I am in Pta. 021 is a little bit far for me, but then again I suppose they have distributors in Pta.

    Hi Mike

Not sure about the distributors in Jhb, but give them a try. They've always been very helpful.

Phone Deltec distribution at 031)701-7761. They have a depot and distribution shop in Sandton, greyston offramp. You buy the battery from the distributer directly. very cheep!! Call them. If had at least 6 people buying from them for dual batteries and they are very happy! This is the real deal

First National has a new construction which is almost identical to Deltec, also in size so you can fit two into one ammo case. Battery Centre in Boksburg (next to Tiger wheel) for R700. I have one and has had no problems (3 years old). A friend of mine at Telkom prefers them over deltec in there remote sites as they last longer according to him.

I know that you have made up your mind anyway - but please be assured that you are doing the right thing - three days powering an Engel without any interim charging.... no problem. These are fantastic batteries!!
