    Default Sani Pass

We went up Sani Pass on Saturday - our first visit to Lesotho and were a bit nervous about how the Condor would cope until at the border post we found we were the sixth Condor (out of eleven vehicles) into the Pass that morning. Apparently two of the three most active day-trip operators have Condor fleets, the third uses Cruisers.
The trip was great, including the ethnic experience at the lodge we stayed at just off the road to Mokhotlong. On the way back down we saw (attached photograph) that the Pass is still a challenge to vehicles without low-range.

Been up Sani a couple of times and it's no longer the challenge that it was years ago. If you drive a diesel you don't need low range. In fact, if you're experienced you don't need 4x4. Only time I use LR 4WD is when it's raining and slippery. If you want to go do Sani as a 4x4 challenge you're going to be dissapointed. Rather do it for the scenery, and it IS one of those that you have to be able to say:"I've driven Sani"

We're going up there again on Saturday (30th). Anybody want to join us is more than welcome. Himeville 8am.

Try it in the winter after a snowfall... then you will definitely need a 4x4...
