Good find. That is low kilo at a good price

The golden rule is to never use the dealers unless you have to. After warranty is gone so should you be.

One guy had a recent thread on how the dealers quoted R16000 for the 160k km service three timing belts needed changing. The independent guy asked something ridiculous like R4000. So there the dealers already messed up

By the time yours is at 100k km the independents would have an even better knowledge of the vehicle.

At that price if I could I wont even think twice

many indies, especially the better ones are already up to speed with the D3. some have been clever and bought the software and manuals in at considerable cost but that is what puts them ahead of the competition.
even saw a D4 at an indie the other day asking advise as it seems LR cannot solve his problem.
that really is a slap in the face of the stealers.

Good luck with that, when I enquired 2 years back JUST to get a price for the 120k I was told 5 different amounts to the point I contacted LRSA and they TOO gave me 3 different answers. Still have the emails to show how STUPID they think I am...I even dealt with a DP in Randburg JUST to get a legit answer.

Was told "depends if ON that day we use imported parts or not" If mems serves the quotes ranged from 5000-13000 and get this for "scheduled" service parts.

Eventually the conclusion was after warranty you service at aftermarket LR guys.

    Hi Willem,

Kostes +- R1400.00

Dus kry ek 'n diens stempel in my boekie - d.w.s voertuig hou sy waarde.

Alle ander parte wat moet vervang word (diesel filter, lug filter ens.) koop ek aan by Dover Parts (011 4936717) teen a fraksie van die prys en vervang dit dan myself.

Laat weet as jy enige verdere vrae het.

most parts on most vehicles are made by sub contractors.
the same filter you would buy from LR as a genuine LR filter would probably have been made by Fram or GUD and just labeled with the LR label or quite often not even relabelled but just have a LR part number slapped on it.
one example is a sparkplug. Champions are generally specced for LR and whether you buy through the agents or aftermarket, you would in all likelyhood get the same or equivalent quality. Britpart is one of the largest part suppliers for LR (non agents only) parts and Dover is an agent for them.
i believe that you can (with a fair amount of peace of mind) use parts from Dover, Cross Country, British or one of the other well known distributors.

Pirelli se Scorpio ATR is aangebied.

Michelin import the BF Goodrich tyres into SA. Tiger wheel seems to be one of the main distributors.

they should be able to assist.

Willem, EXCELLENT buy bud.....man, I wish I could get a deal like that...

    LetsDisco,
That's a good idea buying the parts yourself and just letting LR do the service and supply the oil. I didn't know that the stealers would do that....Did you have to speak to the workshop manager or someone?

    Willem,

    Mackie,

As stated before my friend has a TDV6 with 150 000km that has never missed a beat, he bought it new and looks after it, also takes it on trips and the occasional trail.

If the car is in good condition i.e. one owner and FSH then I think you can buy it with confidence, used cars are always a bit of a lottery but play the percentages and 39 000km can't be argued with.

The other day I saw a 95 cruiser with 300 000 + advertised for R175k, the mind boggles. This is not a Toyota bash just an observation of bang for buck comparisons.
