Default Feed Back Pafuri to Maputo 6-16 Aug

6 August left Vanderbijlpark for Pafuri. No hassels
7 August at Pafuri border at 8h30 no hassels did not even look at my bakkie. The Moz customs just screened the other bakkies. When they saw the reflective bibs and triangles there was no problem.Breakfast in the Fevertree forest was amazing.Arrive at Limpopo crossing Mapai at 13h30.Locals happy to help and show the best route for crossing at a fee.
Water +- Knee height. My Suzzie "Os" got a bit thirsty and had to stop to take some fresh Limpopo water through the distributor. After some Q20 all was fixed. All the other bakkies passe without a hitch.Toyota 2700i 2x4 and KB300 LX 4x4.
To find a bush camp was easy just pull off anywhere.
8 August The road between Macialla and Mabote is Offroaders Heaven and we enjoyed it thouroughly.Mabote got a petrol station!
The road from Mabote to the EN1 is a wide dirt road that will shake anything loose that is not fitted perfectly, we could hold a nice avg.speed of 60km/h.
9 August Beautiful sunrise from Casa Chibobo in Vilanculos. Thanks to all the staff for every thing!!Thank you Kobus for the special day out to the Islands,I think this was a group trip we wil never forget.(in Crappy weather)I can highly recommend this place at R1500 per night and can sleep 8 people with ease.
11 August The road to Inhambanne is in the process of being built by some SA.citizens.There is a +- 30km strech next to the road near Massinga but where it is finnished it is the best road in the world. We arrived in Inhambanne at about 15h00 did a bit of shopping the market and moved out to Aeria Branca. And then there was no road the tide came in and it made it impossible to pass we phoned the number supplied on the road sign and no answer. So we went to Barra Lodge and this was even better than before with Casita no.13 organized we had a view to kill for.
12 August We killed plenty 2M and Blue Mozies at the Bar.
13 August The Chinese are busy on the south side the road through Xai Xai +- 40km at the moment is horrible but the new sections are lovely.
Arrive at Marracuene to cross the river at 16h00.We all fitted on the pontoon and off we went to the otherside 15min later we disambarked.
    Arrived at Tan-n-Biki at 17h00.
14 August Beatiful camping to be had with a nice pool and a massive beach all to your self at R100 per head.Bought fresh Fish and Prawns from locals.I can highly recommend this camp site.
15 August Our last day - Lunch at Marina Reastaurant in Maputo the best Seafood platter in town. And then we got harrassed by some cops looking for cash.
The border post at 16h00 is not fun.Avoid it if possible.

The exchange rate changed from 4 to 5MT to the rand.Always ask at what rate the work and negotiate.
A 4x4 is preverable but a 2x4 will also do.This time of the year.

Special thanks to My set of remoulded Broncho Safari tires not one hitch This trip was +- 3000km. Total km on tyres 5000km.

    Default Calculations & Fotos

    Hi all

I did my travel calculations last night an the round trip according to my bakkies odo = 2700km(1995 KB260 4x4) and with an avarage feul consuption of 7.1 km/l.
The KB300 lx 4x4 got a consuption figure of 10.8km/l and the toyota we dont know yet.

The next time I take the route I will take the Giriyondo border post and travel a little futher than to go through all the hassels at the Komati Gate.

    Can't wait to go again!!!!

    Regards
