Beautiful condition. However.....
Very unpredictable - Recent experiences: stood for 2 weeks and turned over first time without hesitation - was driven for , say , 30km and then parked for a bit and wouldn't start - appears to be no spark.
Left it for a bit and it started perfectly - drove it home.
3 weeks later decided to try again - turned over first time - ok could hear the battery needed a run but no problem with the start.
Took it out for a 50 km run with out turning off the engine. Got home parked it the driveway for 30 mins if that - wouldn't start.
Has now stood for almost a month - just went into garage, turned it over battery taking strain but it fired and then died and wouldn't restart.
Also when is running - and usually starts when the engine is warmed up it starts to jerk - not alot and not all the time but definately "rukking" a bit.
I've had it fully serviced and these problems looked at and "supposedly" sorted out before but it appears they are starting again.
When it runs it runs beautifully but i am now at my wits end regarding this - not keen to take it back to the original guys that "fixed" the problem initially but who do i take to then - or in this case TOW! it to??
Thanx!

Bad earth
as a coil gradually heats up it will start misbehaving more and more to the point where it cuts out completely.
as it is oil filled, it will remain warm for quite a while before cooling down. once cool, it will fire up again and operate reasonably till hot again.
an earth is likely to play up irrespective of hot or cold.

Quick update.
Thanx for all the info - I replaced the coil yesterday and so far so good (ok i broke 2 nails but i will live!) Started first time even with a dodgy battery - and it wudn't start at all prev. Didn't have time to take it for a drive to see what would happen but left it idling in the driveway for 20mins and the switched it off 4 20mins to see if it would infact restart and IT DID!!Partner is home on saturday so I will let him run it out ( cos then i can go and rescue him) and see how far we are with sorting out all these issues.
I couldn't tell whether the coil was old or new when i took it out but surely if we had been having these problems before, the guys that fixed it the firstime should have investigated that as a possibility.
Anyway thanx again - i can't believe how quickly one can sort somethings out just by asking![]()
broke 2 nails? 4" or 6". you are supposed to bolt it on, not nail it on!![]()
