Default Trip report moz, elephant reserve, bilene, tofo

    Hi Guys

Came back from Moz on Friday night, had some work to catch up before I could write the report.

I went there previously but never did the Maputo Elephant reserve. I would really advise this to anyone who likes camping without being bothered. It is actually a really amazing place, you camp in bushes right next to the ocean. You have to be self sufficient though, only thing they have there is a long drop. You can get some supplies from santa maria though, its about a 30km drive if I remember correctly. And the roads are awesome I made it with a ventertjie so most 4x4's should make it, only guy I found struggling was a guy with a toureg, but he had normal road tires on and didn't want me to help him, he didn't even let out some air, it was funny though, I pulled out of his way on to the grass, he was spinning around, got out to offer help, and he just gave a shy wave and missioned on, after about 10m he got stuck again, so I figured he can go on like that if he doesn't want help Remember to take enough beer though. We ran out and spent the last night there dry.

After that we did the usaul, we went to bilene, at palmeiras, its a nice lagoon you can chill out at, and we were happy for some showers. The restaurant just cheated us with about R350, we only realised after the 2m's worked off, hehe, so our own fault really.

Then we went to Tofo and Barra, we stayed at fatima's in tofo, its full of people of say 20 -25years of age, and dino's is just down the beach, so this was more of a party place There is however whaleshark diving, horse riding etc. stuff to do.

At barra the light house campsite is good, the toilets are clean, and you can buy a really decent sea food platter for cheap.

And then the time caught us up.

O yeah, one thing, if you enter at Kosi bay they do not give you the SARS form, so when you come back to sa at komati poort, you have to explain to them rather slowly, I had this idiot on the moz side, I was really lus to give him a klap by the end. Anyway I just went on without the papers, got the small sars thing from the security guard on the sa side, and went in to say we came from kosi bay, red stamp no prob.

There are some guys at the moz side who want to help you for 'free' after I told him where I'll put my foot if he doesn't leave, he did, also a guy tried to give me a phone, he had 'my friend' sergio or something on the line, which was wierd, especially because we got a call from a guy looking for sergio on the sa side

But all and all its an awesome trip. And I'd advise anyone who's thinking about it to just go for it.
