Katanga Masked Weaver? Used to be a subspecies of Southern Masked Weaver, but with this extended bib I think it has been elevated to full species status in the 1990's.

Ploceus katangae / Ploceus velatus katangae depending on your mood...

The eye is not TOO red for a SMW. im not too sure you will find a description online either, perhaps try one of the large books if you have access to them, such as Birds of Africa volume 7

No that's due to the lack of any photography skills!

But you pointed me in a direction, could be Hartlaub's Babbler with its red eye face mask.....although in this case the mask extends beyond the eye?

Hmm, my money would be on Hartlaub's Babbler because of the red eye and one can also see a bit of the white patch on the back?

Default Help with these 2 please

Photographed in St Lucia. Both got me stumped. Bird X I have no idea, but sort of can say the other is an Apalis, but not sure which one.

    Regards

The Apalis is Rudds Apailis, but it's missing the white eybrow stripe... The pale eye and white ouher tail feathers of the Bar-throated Apalis is diagnostic so I don't think it's that.

Perhaps, but it's very pale one. Frankly I'm a little flummoxed... My initial guess was actually a warbler...

    Hi Guys,

I would also have gone for the warbler ID. However, Cliff Dorse confirmed it as a terrestrial brownbull.
