Really great Webinar to watch on Buzzard ID now on You tube - Better Birding Webinars by Dave Winter and Mike Buckham
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6lJ...ature=youtu.be.

Thanks Rob for pointing out 2 males

Just got an email that their next Webinar is on 28 August
    Hi Birders,

We are going to run our next webinar on Wednesday 28 August at 20h00 (not at 19h30).

The topic of the webinar is:

The Birding Sights and Sounds of the Karoo
We are going to use the Karoo, with all its beauty and high levels of endemism, as a back-drop to focus on how to bird both by sight and by ear. Birds are fantastic to look at, (even the LBJs) so we are going to take you on a tour of the Karoo while discussing some of the ID challenges one could face, but we also plan to focus on the calls. Birding by ear is a very underrated and highly rewarding way to experience birds so we want to share some of our experience on this topic.

If you have an ID question related to a Karoo species please do share it before the webinar, and feel free to share the following link with anyone that might enjoy the webinar series: https://forms.gle/ujrbmuGVQRNuNz2u5

Just a couple for Woodpeckers to confirm ID please

    1) cardinal - juv ? pilanesberg
    2) golden tailed umfolozi
    3) golden tailed moremi

If I don't see the brown forehead of the cardinal I mix them up with the golden - the barred versus streaked backs are not always clear

    Thanks

    Happy with all 3 ID's.

I think your Cardinal is a female, not juvenille.
