    That was my first thought, but Google showed me no pictures that didn't have yellow eyes?
    1996 Patrol 4.2SGL with lots of stuff to make it heavier and thus increase traction?

    Yours looks like an immature Black-Chested Snake Eagle to me...

    I'd go with RobH's call. It looks like there's a bit of yellowing at the base of the bill and I'd think the yellow eye would be more visible if it was a juv. BC Snake eagle. Also that fanned tail is just so Jackal Buzzard!

    Agree with immature Jackal Buzzard on both Raceway and Peter Conan's posts..

    It could also be overwintering Steppe Buzzards.

    Thanks guys - the fanned tail is a good pointer. We did see loads of jackal buzzards, also 5 long crested eagles which was nice. Cant wait for the migrants to come back again.

    Is this first pic a female lesser masked or an african golden weaver ?

    My guess is the first pic is of a female Golden Weaver. The heavy bill makes it one of only three potentials but the leg colour is diagnostic in my opinion.

    Thanks Sunbird, that means I have an extra bird to my list so photographed birds now 505. I do have one or two other woodies - will post pic's shortly if you could confirm who they are - thanks
