Drinking water in Namibia

I am going on a 4 week trip through Namibia in June. I have a Conqueror Comfort trailer and it has some nice "comfortable" features like hot water. So we (the wife) can do the dishes at the trailer. BUT I have heard that Namibia's drinking water is really bad The trailer takes 150l water. So we need to keep all of that for drinking water - so no more dishes or showers at the trailer. (life tough - I know!) Now my questions: Are water that bad throughout Namibia? Do any of you have apossible solution? DOes anyone know if I install and additional 60L water tank on the nose of the comfort trailer what would the effect be? Thanks

All I know about Namibian water, is that once you have tasted it, you forever want to go back for more. Myself been there 3 times now.

Ons het dit sleg gevind. Niks fout daarmee nie - dis skoon genoeg om te drink, maar dit was baie brak. Koop 5l's om te drink.

At the coast maybe a bit brackish. But I find it good and drink straight from the tap.

We filled up at a well Okongwati - near Epupa falls - sweetest water anywhere, totally unexpected! Very big country - very big range of water quality....

We get many, many people from the RSA with their little water bottles, expecting Namibia's water to be the same as what they are used to, but our water is clean and drinkable all over the country. The coastal water may taste a bit brackish, but you get used to it quickly and most importantly, it is groundwater and not dirty or contaminated.

In the veld, at places like Koiimasis farm, the water from the mountain taste fatastic.......

Stem saam, namibie se water is puik, geen probleem nie, vul 'n klompie 5l bottels om te gebruik vir drinkwater en gebruik jou tenk vir bad. Hulle het beslis nog nie goggas in hul water nie,

Ook vir interessantgeid, as jy in ons land kom ry, vat jou water in 'n 20 liter kan, maar het ook 'n 5 liter kan byderhand...vir ingeval jy moet loop vir hulp en dan moet jy water saamvat.

Stem saam, vat ook water in 2 l koeldrank bottels, dit pas oral in en baie handig as jy water skielik nodig het,.

Thanks all, ons het nou besluit om 2 Addis 25l kanne saam te vat en 2 Addis 5l houers saam te vat. Ons gaan ons water gebruik soos benodig - stort as dit nodig is, groot skottelgoed was by opwas geriewe maar die odd beker of glas by die wa. Sal julle terugvoer gee as ek terug is...

Nothing wrong with the water in Nam.
Maybe they add less chemicals than RSA but you'll enjoy it.
On the other hand, why is water a concern, drink beer and use the water for the showers .
A little anecdote from Kamanjab:
I filled my tanks in Opuwo at a super market and the guy allowed me to use a brand new hosepipe.
We then found it copied the smell of plastic products into the water and drained it on the way to Kamanjab.
Here at the filling station they refused the "precious" fluid and ask me to get permission at the local council, which I duly did.
The lady in charge was calculating the costs to buy water - yes - to buy it (!) and messed up the figures, so 120 litres would have been charged at 850 N$ (yes right - eight five zero).
She applied the m3 price to the liter calculations - hence I preferred to shower in white wine and drink beer - turned out to be cheaper .
So don't try Kamanjab

Snelone, I see you mention the Addis watercans, I bought myself two 25 or 27liter water "bladders" made by Frontrunner, they are strong and when empty they fold up the size of SWAMBO's handbag. No funny plastic taste of water. Yes they are expensive but if space is a problem they are the answer.

Yes indeed, but she did not know how to read the tariff table so assuming the rates given in m3 were liter rates. I debated a long time with her but she insisted that her household water bill was also very high with around 300 N$ per quarter .....(??) so compare.
No point reasoning on this level, so again don't in Kamanjab!
