    Guys,

Please take into account that fuel prices in Moz increase quite a bit the further you go from the port cities (Maputo, Beira, Nacala). As an example - fuel prices in Maputo are steady at the rates given by Mopani, but in Vilanculos diesel costs 30.14 mts/ltr and petrol costs 32.00 mts/ltr. I've paid 40+mts/ltr for diesel in the north at Macuba.
I've found www.oanda.com to be a very good site for checking exchange rates.

    Hi Guys

From Mopani's info it seems diesel will cost me just more than R7 when I cross the border at Lebombo. I have phoned today and the Sasol garage at Komati charges R8.99 for diesel at the moment. Would make sense to rather fill up in Moz. I see the closest diesel available after the border is at Moamba (Petromoc). Do you guys agree it makes sense to fill up in Moz and anybody that can confirm the Petromoc at Moamba?

    Cobus,

There is a a great SASOL/Petromoc fuelstation just as one enters Matola. It is less than 80 kms from the border and right on the road-side. At Moamba it is 3 km off the route and they just might not have enough stock.

I would just fill up at the SASOL/Petromoc fuelpoint.

Bear in mind that, afaik, none of the stations in Moz carry low sulphur diesel so you may just have to fill up at Komati if you have a late model diesel. If you find low sulphur diesel anywhere than please let us know. I tried to find this out from Sasol and Petromoc but got absolutely nowhere.

The Landy tdi is quite happy with anything that smells like diesel so any will do. I also read somewhere that there is a BP diesel depot in Komatipoort and will try and find out their price. If the difference between S.A. amd Moz price is too much I will take my chances and fill up in Moz. Original tank plus auxilary tank together is 94 litres so there is a bit of money to be saved. I suppose I will just have to also consider at what exchange rate I will get the Meticas. We are leaving next Thursday and return Sa 19th and will let you guys know about availability and price of low sulpher diesel.

Petrol and diesel is freely available up to Vilanculos. Price increase if you is away from main towns, Maputo and Beira. Was last year up to Zim (Mutare) with out any shortage of petrol, be aware of petrol pumps at small towns, thy have there own prices. The best not to go under half tank of fuel. Fill up when you can.
Had problems with petrol from Petromoc filling stations. I always carry “octane booster” from Wins to ad if needed. Keep an extra fuel and air filters
