    Default 100 Kroozer hidden winchmount.

I finished a winchmount for a Series 100 land cruiser for one of my customers. Of course he paid to little as I had to do the job myself [on my bday nogal]

The plate is 8mm and are bolted to the cross member with 4 m12 HT bolts and nuts with spring washers and loctite for safety and all bolts torqued. Then I have another 2 m12 HT bolts on the sides and the front part with another 4 m10 bolts. The height is perfect and the remote and clutch very easily accessible.

But here we have some pics.

I must say the whole installation came out perfect. The thing that irritated me most was when i tried to buy the winchplate from african outback they never came back to me on my dealer application. It also looked as if the spec croozer was different from the local units. Now im glad I did my own plate as the space is VERY limited and just fits. I retained all the original bumper mountings as well as the front under bumper plate with the polystyrene protector.

Hi Engel interested in what winch you fitted there?
Is space a problem in winch choice?

any low profile winch will work. A bigger spec winch only has different gearing and thus slower so any 9000 lbs will be fine. You can make it stronger with snatchblocks. It is a lot of fitting to make it fit properly.

How much cheaper was that Jap import compared to a similar age vehicle sourced in SA?

I know the stuff ex bonded warehouse Durbs is dead cheap, but the SA authorities are full of nonsense now.

The last time we bought Corollas for $1,500 each for our Zim operation, we had to ship them up using auto carriers as "their wheels are no longer allowed to touch South African soil".

Soms verstom die Suid Afrikaanse regering my net daai bietjie meer as die res van die tyd.

Bots still allow these Jap imports - low mileage (sub 75k) 100vx should set you back no more than $50k all in. I know of a number of B plates in SA on a semi permanant basis as no paper work issued at the border to prove when the vehicle entered SA... just don't get the vehicle stolen or involved in an accident as the details are on line!
