    Default Groenkloof 4X4 Nature Trail

I did the Groenkloof 4X4 Nature Trail last weekend.
I was hoping to get some mud and water. And I got both, with lots of water. hehe
Here are some of the pics from the trip.

cory, let me know when you are planning to go. i would like to join you (if you want company).

i think we should make it a Ssangyong GTG at Groenkloof or somewhere else (De Wildt?)

    What does the other say?

    Hi Cory

The Korando was very capable everywhere. This was my first 4X4 experience so I am still very inexperienced. I decided not to do a few of the obstacles, but Vitaraman did them all with his Korando without any problem. In fact he has done the trail 3 times already.

I dont know enough to comment on the Rexton. But I am sure it should cope. There are escape routes on all the major obstacles, so if you feel you would rather skip one, you can.

I am hoping to do a 4X4 coarse next month.

    Cheers

Maybe some time next month lets have a picnic? I' pretty tied up until mid-May. Shall we raise it then?
But I'd have no idea of how to organise it. I'll help, but we need an organiser
BTW, recently I saw saw 2 (3?) Mussos on a Sunday going South along Old Pretoria Rd into Halfway House (NOT Midrand!) . Anybody here in volved? They had obviously been off-road somewhere

I did the trail along with a new Hilux, and the Hyundai Terracan TD. I must say, when we started out I was a bit nervous as it was my first 4x4 trail ever. My 2.3 Korando is stock standard with BFG All terrains. I was amazed at how it handled ALL the obstacles with ease. Its not the most difficult trail ever, but I really think your Rexton will do most of it comfortably. There are only 2 really tricky places compared to the the rest of the trail in my opinion, and you can skip them if you want to. I found out, that it looks worse than what it really is
If you guys want to get together, Im definitely in.

Regarding the SsangYong GTG, I'm in! I'll bring a sak charcoal. Just say when. A Saturday or Sunday would work best.

I'm grossly inexperienced with 4X4ing. I've done Groenkloof with a mountain bike a few times, but never in a vehicle. Need the guidance of an experienced person to show me the ropes.

    Hey guys,
saw the new Korando at Bryanston this morning. 4x2 Frontwheel drive. Auto arrives around June
all kinds of foefies, LED lights, hazards come on in accident or hard braking, etc
quite spacious, nice trim. a bit of a mallcrawler in my book
can't say I like the styling, but then I'm an old fart

Default Put foot rally 2011 - team lyall

    Hi Guys,

Just a few pics taken with my blackberry of the Korando 230E (auto 1999 model) doing the put foot rally...it was brilliant and went without a hitch. Korando pulled 3 adults and the trailer (Bundu challenger) through 7000km's, 6 countries (we skipped zim and rather did the ferry crossing from bots to zambia) in 17 days.

    Cheers

    Devman

PS - we were the 1st team to arrive at checkpoint 1 (etosha) and the 1st team to arrive at the finish (Manzini, swaziland)..BUT it wasnt a race...its a RALLY..

Gister besluit ek my trok het vir eers genoeg teerpad gery (ek't hom nog nooit uitgevat nie... kan julle glo! )

Dis `n mooi area, lekker vir `n vinnige middag afleiding of `n nightcap of iets.
