    Hi Kalahari Lobo.

Regarding the trade-in value on these vehicles. I just traded my 3 year old Pikup for R105000. In my opinion not that bad as this is still 50% of the original purchase price. This is still way better than many other brands do.

The other thing to consider is that running costs on these vehicles are low, and that all in all the cost of ownership is low. See the conclusion of my Pikup's thread for a final cost per km.

I am now eagerly awaiting delivery of a new mHawk auto Scorpio SUV 4x4.

Have a hickup with buying the Mahindra. At 99 the bank told me they have a problem with my Botswana drivers license. Now have to obtain a SA license or proof that I've applied before I can get my Scorpio!!

I also own a Scorpio PikUp single cab 4wd and it has now got 45000km on. Not a days trouble and I use it extensively for off roading!! No mods done to it and still going strong !!, So, my answer would be also be a yes to go ahead and buy yourself one... enjoy !!!

    Default Unhappy with Mahindra

If I read all the wonderfull things you all have to say about Mahindra I am wondering if I bought the bad apple on the factory line. Bought my Scorpio 4x4 2.6 in Jan 2008. First week the battery died on us. Not long after this we had problems with a leaking pipe. December the same year we were driving on a gravel road and the exhaust pipe came a part. Now on 64 000 km my clutch gave in - R4200 for a new kit at the dealers. We are not offroad fanatics and never has done any 4x4-ing with the SUV. Maybe the wheels will come of, one will never now. My dieselcap is leaking since I bought it and my back sliding windows as well. Mentioned this to the dealers with no luck. Head office just let it roll down like water on a ducks back. It is suppose to be a Turbo, but I think our 1600 Bantam has more vavroom than this vehicle.!!!

I too was not entirely convinced by the quality of the Scorpio and the dealer seemed only half interested. Therefore I went with the GWM Hover, and I am so glad I did - what a great vehicle. I am even starting to blog about my Hover - I like the thing so much.
