    Default RAV4 Lady Member

    Hi fellow forum-ers

I have a lady colleague in Durbs who has a 2008 RAV4 VX 2.0 auto who is pretty interested in learning a bit more about her vehicle (possibly upgrading it for another softroader at some stage) and who would like to join in on a couple of gtg's.

I am trying to gather a little info on who to speak to, where to go, what to do and how to further her interest in offroading and overlanding. I wonder if guys like Andre KZN and perhaps a few ladies could drop me a line with their thoughts and ideas (perhaps contact info if necessary). Is there a specialist RAV4 or general softroader instructor about?

I'm sure there's plenty fun to be had in a RAV4 (KwaHumbe, Shongweni 4x2 route, Sani Pass??, Ponto + Transkei come to mind) and I think a Softroader's crash course would amaze and inspire. Any info would be awesome guys.

    Hi there,
Killarney is a great place to start offroading and most obstacles suit the soft roaders, Roy from Durban driver training does a lot of training , corporate and private, can get you their contact details.
There are vehicles there every weekend, just come when it suits you and its close to Durban

Thumbs up 4x4 training and intro

Dynamo D amongst the options of some good trianing, the 4 wheel drive club (www.4wdkzn.co.za) also offer driver training. Always recommended as a good introduction to the 4x4 world.

Alternately a mild drive with an experienced group is possible so keep an eye on the threads for some of the local drives where all are welcome.
Good luck and welcome to the RAV4.

Thanks, will do. I'm just wondering on how to uncover a little info on the competency of the RAV... toyota's website speaks more of vehicle dynamics and image rather than offroad capability. WRT traction control, diffs etc.
