Have a look at www.kampsa.co.za There is a sticky of sites to visit or avoid in the Western Cape section... Also have a look at Beaverlac, Porterville. Nice place.

22 watervalle - absoluut stunning.

You can also look at Koningskop. On top of Piekenierskloof pass, turn left on the Paleisheuwel road, 17km onwards.

We will be going to Jakkalskloof in March and it sounds like a nice place to camp

Beaverlac can be very busy over long weekends and dogs are allowed and there can be a lot of them!

Hi JimnyWP, Just been to 22 Watervalle, Porterville this past weekend. Stunning place. Most beautifull surroundings, well maintained hiking trails, 4x4 Group campsite with ablusion facilities and campsites with or without electric facilities. Ablusion facilities are a bit on the few side but very clean and neat. I surely recomment this site. I would go back this comming weekend if I could!! About 90mins drive from Cape Town.

The Link is on WHH001's Post (Post #4) Go and ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HennieZJ that looks absolutely amazing! i will def make a plan to go camp there sometime soon, and here i was thinking porterville had nothing to offer me!

i think we going to go to voorhoede in Caledon, we camped there at the end of 09 and that forest set up is fantastic.

thanks for all the help and if anyone finds a great spot, post it for future reference for all of us!

You are absolutely right Mano!! Except for the Spar there is nothing else that Porterville has to offer. You have to drive through the town to turn off to Watervalle though. Just be very carefull not to swerve out for any chickens crossing the road.......you'll miss the whole town in that proccess!!

Make sure to take a couple of Woolies with. This time of year it can get quite chilly at Watervalle. The Spar is quite well stocked. If you want meat cut to your tast, speak to Marius. He is the Manager there.

You can also try Skurwekop which is close to Riverzicht - did not camp there yet but drove through and it looked nice.
