    Default Namakwa eco trail-distances-diesel?

Can anybody give me approximate distances between
    a) Pofadder and Vioolsdrift going via the Namakwa eco trail?
    b) Vioolsdrift via Eksteensfontein and Richtersveld NP to Alexander Bay?

Is there diesel available at Kotzeshoop on the SA side?

This file attachment will help you. Pofadder to Pella is about 40km and from Pella to GrootMelkboom is another 110km.

No filling station on SA side at Vioolsdrift. You can quickly cross the border and fill on the Namibian side. Some of the guys in our group did it and the border officials were accommodating as plenty people do this.

From where the first leg of the Namaqwa Eco rail meets the N7, you can also pop back to Steinkopf to refuel.
Pella to Zioolsdrif is about 350-400km.
The 2nd leg to Alex - allow 450km, but can be longer depending on how much exploring you do.

Thanks guys. Granlor also for the distance chart.

I figured that it would be around 700km all the way from Pofadder to Alex bay.

I have a range of around 700km on my Mazda and the accompanying Touareg should be a bit more. I'l just take two jerrycans along for certainty.

When you get to groot melkhoutboom. drive a bit past if you coming form the Pella side over some rocks next to the river, there is a path . camp next to the river further down is a nice grass patch and a beach right on the river. Beautiful with mountain behind you.

    Our favorite camp site.

This is the route we did in Dec which I plotted prior to leaving using MapSource. It included the Road to hell and was a total distance of 261km, I did stop my route at the N7 though ... its about 15km to the border from there.

There is a filling station just after you get back onto the N7 (I was very low on fuel).

It's a beautiful drive to say the least!

Zeek - thank you, I will look out for that spot

Green Disco - Thanks for the map! The fuel you are talking about - is that at Steinkopf?

Hi bostoe, I'll have a look when I'm on my machine again tomorrow and let you know.

EDIT: I just had a look and it seems to be at Crystal Stones ... I cant see on my actual track log where I stopped but it wasn't far from where we joined up with the N7
