    Question Mozambique June 2010

I am going to Moz in June and would like to get all the advise you can supply. I will enter at Pafuri and exit at Komatipoort 14 days later. Camping at Blue waters , Morrungulo , Jeffs and Laguna Camp.

Do someone have a number that I can Phone to find out what the Limpopo river look like before I try and cross it.
Is their a place I can sleep between Pafuri and Vilanculos , if not is it save to sleep next to the road?

    thank

Between Pafuri and Vilanculos you bushcamp somewhere next to the road on the border of the Banhine national Park close to the town of Machaila. Obviously theres safety in numbers so travel in convoy and lock valuables away at night.

We'll also be doing this route on our way to Pomene in June. From what I've read the rivercrossing should not be a problem in winter, but I don't have any contact number to find out beforehand so we'll just pitch up and see when we're there.

We will be doing more or less the same - Pafuri on about 12 June - River should not be a problem - last year ankle deep - no prob. Sleeping next to the road - great experience no problem at all quite save. Post dates - maybe we can link - we will be 3 vehicles minimum.

    THANKS FOR THE REPLY

We stay at Pafuri river camp on 12 June, then next to road.
Blue waters 14 June, Morrungulo 17 June, Jeffs 20 June, Laguna 23 June.
We can link yes. It wil be our first trip to Moz and can not wait. We are 2 vehicles. My GPS give Bhejane's camp, I think where the tours stay. I had it in my mind to maybe sleep their. What do you think?

What's the Coordinates for Bhejane's Camp. They do tours on this route to Inhassoro etc. I don't think it's a formal campsite just a spot they use regularly for sleepover so might be worthwhile to use it.

Hey guys, my friends and I were thinking around the same tread for the 12 of June. It will be our first visit as well but we planning on camping- are these resorts hotels only or camping as well?

Default Kruger to Moz Entry Points

Pris and I are planning July 2010 to go with 1995 LC SX to Vilanculo and Inhambane.
    Direction not important!
Where in Kruger can we cross over?
What are the risks for a single vehicle?
What routes recommended and why, Scenic, Adventure, good roads ?
Any one planning for same time?

    Oom outop, lees hierdie artikel:
    http://www.wegry.co.za/bestemmings/m...r-tot-bazaruto

    Hi Jannie

    PS

Ons vat meeste kos saam, soos vleis ens. Pomene is nie naby 'n dorp nie so moet redelik selfversorgend wees. Ek's seker jy sal meeste kos by die groot sentra soos Vilanculos kan kry, daar is blykbaar 'n varsprodukte mark. Ek's maar gesteld op my vleisie so vat maar kwaliteit saam wat ek ken.

Ek sleep my trailer saam. Dis my bed, kombuis en klerekas.

    Hi julle

By die grens of in Vilanculos?

Sommer so n klip in die bos vraag- Wie gaan almal Junie Moz toe? Wil net vir interesanheid sien hoeveel mense gaan.

Do you know if it is possible to fill a gas bottel in Moz or should I take 2 along.

Jannie gaan julle die hele tyd by pomene wees?
Dit lyk my dit is so 3 ure se ry daarna toe.

Ek sien Skim gaan ook daar lang.

    Geniet Moz

    Hi,

Gas available most of the time at Massinga (ask around the market area), Inhambane, and a gas depot outside Xai Xai on the road to Praia de Xai Xai.

No exchange at Pafuri maybe informal find out what the rate is before going and use that as a guide. Always handy to enter a country with some foreign exchange, you never know when you need it. Watch out for slenters!!! count and check before youn hand over your Rand. If entering via Komatipoort change your money early on at Fuel station (Foreign Echange office also get your Insurance there for vehicle and trailer before Komatipoort border post). Most banks along the route where you can exchange (Matola, Masia, Xai Xai, Inhmabane and Vilanculos) you can even draw Meticais with a RSA Visa card.

Unless you have a lot of time for shopping in the markets etc suggest take all you meat and food with you except for fresh goods you can get there. Breads (pao), some veggies-pataoes, tomatoes, lettuce (rinse off properly), garlic chillies.

If need be you could source almost any product/goods in the bigger centres, even meat. I take my own meat in no problem at the border (max 25kgs) to take in can be an issue to bring back (vacuum pack with the RSA price tag still on has sufficed to prevent confiscation).

Alchol and beer freely available and only slightly more expensive. The beer is excellent so limit the amount of RSA product, buy there- 2M, Manica and Laurentina. Support the roadside shops.

Water always purify if you want to drink it, bottled water available every where. Take own drinking water if you have the capacity. Tip is to travel with a small bottle of Milton. A few drops (1 per every 2l- don't overdose it taste like shhht) into water and a few minutes standing then rinse lettuce etc and its sorted. Can also be used to sterilise and purify water same ratio (read instructions on bottle).

No problem you can buy eggs every where. The colour of eggs not being battery eggs is different- but are very tasty.

Good luck and enjoy your planning. If any further questions that we can help with only a pleasure.
