Default Alternative to standard bottle jack

    Hi

Can anyone give advise on a good replacement of the standard bottle jack that comes with the colt. Reasonable for general purpose use as well as in the stix....

I will eventually get a high lift, but not until I've fitted a bullbar with Hi-Lift points

Simon, besides my Hi-lift (Thanx Sorento ) I use a ama-cheapskate 2T bottle and 2.5 T trolley jack that I bought at Midas. Sometimes in the bush the Trolley doesnt work, then I use the Bottle, and sometimes even both (at the rate I'm losing tyres.. ). I must say that the Hi-Lift is King though..

    Simon

I am sorry, but apart from a hi-lift, for which one needs mounting points, and an exhaust jack, I cant think of anything else.

BUT your post reminded me of an interesting incident: A flat rear tyre on the road between Solitaire and Sesriem on my Hilux. Vehicle was heavily loaded and it was extremely difficult to get the axle off the ground with the standard screw-type bottle jack that came with the vehicle. If this happened to a woman of slight build, I am pretty sure it would have been impossible to lift the bakkie with this jack. So, first thing I did when I got back, was to go find me a hydraulic jack that fitted the space behind the rear seat.

With a bottle jack, I also carry 4 or 5 pine 228x50 offcuts ( mine are about 400mm long) to stack under the jack to get a tight fit as well as secure footing. I keep them tied togethter so they are neat and don't take up too much space.

Spike that solutions allows for an additional 3 or 4 inches of lift as well. Iuse a 2 ton trolley jack myself.
