Peter Betts - yip got cindy waxbill but some bad news - this drought has taken its toll - we went up the Skeleton coast to the mouth of the Cunene then crossed the desert and came out thro Hartman's / Marianfluss - then crossed to Opuwa to Cunene River Lodge. There is not a blade of grass, only saw 1 Himba with his only surviving bull. Peter at the lodge has sectioned off part of the river bank and has this under irrigation - so the birds are there for the seeds - he says he only sees 5/6 waxbill's now. There is nothing to eat anywhere else. Even thro Botswana - very dry - first time I saw the ribs sticking out on warthog. But the good news is the rain was starting.

Dankie Gif - I got 9 new birds - will post when I get a chance - birds photographed now at #530 - might have one or two more once I id these lbj's

The straight bill could indicate a Wood, but the dark chest bothered me. For some reason I am loosing lots of clarity when uploading via the app.

@ Linda : I tried getting in at LC December but no Luck was closed tight but should be open now but you already have the Ayres so now I need to go get it...

@Luka :Great shot and finds Luka! ( I agree with the wood sandpiper) I did a quick to Kruger the past week but was on the 70-200 while gf had the longer lens. So I had to get creative.

Nice pics - the courser magic - Gif - I will never say no to a bird morning, still need the black sparrowhawk who apparently also hangs around there. Going to Devon on Sat and Klipriver on Sun so see what we will find. I need to have photographed 600 birds by the end of the year - thats my goal
Finally got rid of that annoying sound in the 4x4, opened the door and pushed him out

Spotted this little African Stone Chat on Naudeís Neck in the Eastern Cape Highlands a few days ago. Itís the first time we have come across a leucistic bird in the wild. Was very confusing at first.
