    Default Bird ID

Gister in my tuin sien ek toe n koningsblou suikerbessie.
Nog nooit voorheen so ene gesien nie.
    Dankie.

As jy dalk suikerbekkie probeer eerder as suikerbessie? Of selfs die familie Nectariniidae gebruik.

Have a look at the Malachite Sunbird, only one in your area that could be close to that description.

They can look quite different depending on the angle the sun catches them.

Depending on where you saw it my guess is immature Marico sunbird or immature Double collared sunbird.

I once struggled for weeks to Id a small differently marked dove in my garden only considering SA birds- stripes around the neck area and strange wing feathers like roof shingles pattern.

I called it my zebra dove, and finally one day feeling silly, decided to Google "zebra dove" and got my answer - an escapee actually called "zebra dove" but from Asia if I remember correctly .... Lol

Need help positively identifying these guys. Photographed recently at Pafuri gate along the Mutali river. My guess would be Terrestial Bulbul.

    Thanks

I agree, the 'furrowed' wing feathers are diagnostic.
